Hi everyone!
I am heartbroken to share that our youth theater set shop recently experienced a break-in, and many of our essential items were stolen. These included our power tools, headsets, saws, etc. (a complete list is provided below), all of which are critical to putting on performances and running our programs.
This theft has been a huge blow to our small nonprofit. More importantly, it’s impacted the kids — the heart and soul of our theater. These young performers work incredibly hard, and they rely on our parent volunteers to build the sets that bring our shows to life. Our parent volunteers cannot create these magical sets without the proper tools and equipment.
We’re doing everything we can to recover, but replacing the stolen equipment comes with a heavy financial burden. We have taken the proper steps and filed a report with the sheriff’s department, reinforced our locks, and added additional anti-theft measures. We are happy to say that the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office made an arrest within 24 hours of our initial report. They even recovered some of the stolen items. However, a large portion has yet to be recovered and our fall season is only a few short weeks away. That’s why I'm turning to our community and asking for help.
Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward replacing what was stolen so we can continue creating the same high-quality productions that CYT Vermilion is known for, while providing a safe and inspiring space for kids to explore the arts.
