HELP CYPRUS GET TO SPAIN

UPDATE. We are going to Spain! Our very grateful thanks to all donations received. We have not yet reached our full target so any further help will be appreciated. But we have enough to commit the squad to travel to Spain. Our squad is now fully focused on the tournament and training weekly. The organisers have now made the group stage draw and excitement is building.

Calling all football fans. We are Walking Football in Cyprus; a group of walking football clubs from western Cyprus who have come together to form a squad of Cypriot and expatriate senior men. Our intention is to represent Cyprus at the World Nations Cup being held in Torrevieja, Spain in October. We will be one of 100 teams taking part and this will be the first time a Cypriot team has entered such a competition. You can more about the competition at https://spainwalkingfootball.com/

Our squad of hopefuls consist of 12 players and 2 coaches, all of whom have been keen footballers throughout their lives. Now as 50+ years old, we may not be able to play the regular game, however through walking football we’ve continued playing the game we love, albeit at a slower pace.

Walking Football in Cyprus has a wider intent in supporting physical activity for senior men and women in the local communities, and getting this squad to Spain will help highlight the sport and spread it to further reaches of the island of Cyprus.

Our senior squad comprises a mix of working men and retirees. The cost of entering the competition, and getting them to Spain is estimated at €15,000.

We are appealing for any donations to help make this event happen. All funds received will go toward travel, accommodation, competition fees, and kit.

We are hugely grateful for any donations.

As time expires and should the squad not travel to Spain, all donations will be fully refunded.
