My mom Cynthia’s world revolves around her beloved dog, Bit Bit (also known as Dookie Doo). For nearly 20 years, Bit Bit has been her constant companion, her comfort, and her family. She rescued Bit Bit as a pup, and since then, he has been by her side through every up and down. He sleeps with her, talks to her in his own special way, and even says “I love you” back with his unique barking howl. Bit Bit is more than just a pet—he is my mom’s main support and her best friend.
Bit Bit’s joyful spirit has touched everyone who knows him. He loves dressing up in costumes, going for walks to the park, and greeting loved ones with a happy howl and a wagging tail. Even now, as he grows weaker, he still tries to show his love—when I visited yesterday, Bit Bit used all his energy to give his signature “Dookie Dookie Dooooo” howl before resting again. My mom lives alone, and Bit Bit has been a part of her everyday life for almost two decades. Watching him suffer is breaking her heart, and she feels as if she is losing her child.
Now, Bit Bit is very sick. He hasn’t eaten in days and can barely move. My mom, who lives on a disability check, cannot afford the costs of euthanasia and cremation, let alone any vet tests that might help extend his life. She spends her days lying next to Bit Bit, in tears, watching his life slowly fade. This is a devastating time for my mom, and she needs help to give Bit Bit the compassionate end-of-life care he deserves.
I am reaching out to ask for your support. Any donation will help my mom cover the costs of euthanasia and cremation, and possibly give Bit Bit a chance at more time if treatment is possible. Your kindness will mean the world to my mom and help her say goodbye to her best friend with dignity and love.
