My name is Cynthia, and I am reaching out for help after a series of unexpected health and financial setbacks. On August 29th, I experienced a cardiac event while at work. After returning to work on September 15th, I suffered a second cardiac event. I was placed on short-term disability for over three months, returning to work on January 20th. Unfortunately, the very next day, I was injured after falling out of my chair at work. I tried to return again, but on February 3rd, I experienced another fall from the same chair, which caused significant injuries.
My employer is currently declining to provide workers' compensation benefits, citing the compensation doctor's recommendation for either remote work or being at home with pay—neither of which my employer can accommodate. As a result, I have no income for my household. My savings were depleted when my short-term disability benefits ended prematurely, and I am now facing urgent financial hardship. I am unable to cover essential expenses such as my mortgage, car note, car insurance, health insurance, utilities, and groceries.
I'm also trying to take care of autistic cousin that I have legal custody over him. I'm trying hard to keep thinks together and not show hurt and upset in front of him.
I am reaching out to my community for support during this incredibly difficult time. Any help you can offer will go directly toward keeping a roof over my head, maintaining my health insurance, and covering basic living expenses while I recover and work toward stability. Your kindness and generosity would mean the world to me as I navigate this challenging chapter.
