Waverly TN Flood Relief for Cynthia, Gary & Pets
Hello name is Daniel. I'm raising money for my dear friend Miss Cynthia (who’s like a mom to me), and her fiancé Gary. Hopefully it will help them rebuild their lives and provide immediate care for all the animals they rescue.
They lost everything in the floods that tore through Waverly Tennessee this weekend. They were at "ground zero" for the flooding, and their tiny cottage, which they shared with all their animals (6 cats and 4 dogs) was pulled off it’s foundation and swept away in the raging waters - with Cynthia, Gary and all their beloved animals inside.
The flood waters almost reached the ceiling as it was dragged by the water into the street. In that moment, all their worldly possessions were destroyed. While Cynthia, Gary and the animals treaded water and tried not to drown, their vehicles, appliances, furniture, tools... and a lifetimes of keepsakes were destroyed.
Miraculously Cynthia, Gary and the dogs were rescued by two Good Samaritans in a rowboat. Had it not been for those two men, I’m not sure they would have made it. The house was almost completely underwater.
Sadly, we’re not sure if all 6 cats survived. When the men arrived with the boat, it was a life-or-death situation. It was all Cynthia and Gary could do to get the dogs on the boat, but the cats were nowhere to be seen. We know a couple of them made it out - because people have reported seeing them, but we need to find them. Now that the flood waters have receded we will do all we can to locate them. We’re praying they got up somewhere high in time.
Please keep this area of Tennessee in your thoughts today. 21 confirmed dead - including infants, and many still missing. To know all this tragedy happened a few minutes from my house, and to dig through the rubble of my friends house- trying to find some salvageable keepsakes amid the jumbled piles of personal belongings covered in flood water and debris is heartbreaking. Absolute devastation is the only way to describe what’s happened in parts of this area. Please keep everyone here in your prayers.
