Help Cusco Guide Jaime Infante reinvent himself

Hello dear friends,

I'm Jaime Infante  and I have proudly been working for more than 13 years as an official tour guide for the great family of Amazonas Explorer . I am very grateful to all of you for choosing us for your adventure visits to the different attractions of my beloved country.  Some of you may know me as a folk singer too:

Unfortunately, the global pandemic caused by Covid-19 affected many of us in different ways, but we cannot give up and we have to keep working to be able to meet personal and family expenses.

As you know, thanks to tourism, I was able to pay for my law education and I recently graduated as a lawyer, so I am temporarily dedicating myself to helping out as a lawyer for low-income families of indigenous communities and also for  our porters, cooks, muleteers and others.

But, as my savings are running out as our quarantine continues, every night that I get to my room, I've been dedicating myself to making some pencil and watercolour drawings, recreating the place that I am most passionate about - Machu Picchu.

I am not that good a draftsman, but fortunately to date I have been able to sell some of my paintings and with the little money I've made, I've been able to  use it to pay for my bus fares so I can continue to help solve the problems of poor people who need it most in the Sacred Valley of the Incas and sometimes in remote places of the Peruvian Andes.

Now that I know more about legal activity, my plan is to open an office in the town of Urubamba to better help low-income families with their legal problems.
To get started, I am trying to raise £1465 for the following

UK£ 772 Personal computer (laptop)

UK£ 539 for a Printer, Desk and Office furniture

UK£154 a monthly for office rent.

Any donation, however big or small will be greatly appreciated. Or simply share this page with your friends and I promise that one day when you make it to visit Peru again, I will be here to show you round, give you one of my paintings and maybe share some legal advice too.

Thank you all.

Jaime Infantes

How it works:

I, Paul Cripps, owner of Amazonas Explorer have agreed to help set up these Gofundme crowdfunding pages for my guides who are struggling to make ends meet whilst the tourism industry implodes in Peru. We hope it will be back one day soon, but for now, they need to reinvent themselves in order to feed their families.

The funds will be collected here in the UK into my account and then I will pay the exact equivalent in Peruvian soles from my Peruvian account into their personal accounts to minimise bank transfer fees and exchange rate fluctuations.

Our guides provide a big part of the magic of any trip to Peru and it is their personal touches, professionalism, wit and charm that makes each trip they guide unforgettable.

So,  if you enjoyed your trip to Peru with one of our guides, please give what you can.

I know times are difficult everywhere but these guides are true heroes, their projects are borne out a desire to survive this pandemic and come out the other side better for the experience.

If you can't donate, please share and spread the word to help them achieve their goals.

Let me take this opportunity to thank you so much for anything you can do.
