Semper Fi – Always Faithful: A Marine’s Call for Help
My name is Curtis Walker. I am a United States Marine, a husband, a father, and a man who has dedicated his life to service—both in and out of uniform. Today, I find myself in the hardest battle of my life, one I never thought I’d have to fight. I’m humbly asking for your help to save my home, support my family, and keep faith alive during this storm.

Semper Fi in the Marines
At 17 years old, growing up in Pontiac, Michigan, I watched in horror as the 1983 Marine barracks bombing in Beirut took the lives of my brothers-in-arms. That moment shaped my destiny. I knew I had to serve, to give my life to something greater than myself. My mother, through her faith in God, granted me permission to enlist. That decision set me on a lifelong path of duty and sacrifice.
I served faithfully in the Marine Corps, specializing in nuclear and biological warfare decontamination, ensuring that our troops had the best chance of survival. My time in service ended in 1992 due to exposure-related injuries, but my commitment to faith, family, and country never wavered.

Semper Fi in Family
Shortly after my honorable discharge, I met the love of my life, Tamara. Together, we faced a painful truth—we could not have children of our own. But when the door to adoption opened, we walked through it without hesitation. Within two years of marriage, we became a family of six (my wife and I with a two year old son, a six month old daughter and 2 cats) overnight. Raising our children wasn’t always easy, but we poured love, patience, and faith into our home, ensuring they knew they were wanted, needed, and deeply cherished.

Semper Fi in Career
After my military service, I pursued a career in technology, working for companies like Ford, Chrysler, and Flagstar Bank. For over 20 years, I provided for my family through hard work and dedication. Life was moving forward—until COVID changed everything.

Semper Fi in Crisis
In 2020, my job was outsourced overseas, and as businesses shut down, my ability to find new work dwindled. But I refused to give up. I took on gig work—Uber, Lyft, DoorDash—delivering food and essentials to those in need. During Michigan’s strict lockdown, I felt like a hero in my hometown, ensuring people had what they needed while sacrificing my own financial stability.
Then, another life-changing event. My son discovered he had a child—a grandson I had never met—who was lost in the foster care system. Without hesitation, my wife and I petitioned to adopt him. Spencer is now seven years old, and he is the joy of my life, the reason I fight each day to keep going. He prays over me before I leave for work, asking God to give me strength. That kind of faith humbles me every day.

Semper Fi in the Fire
In 2023, I finally landed a stable job in fraud investigations. It wasn’t the same pay as my tech jobs, but it helped us survive. Then, my wife suffered a devastating fall at home, shattering her kneecap. She needs a knee replacement, but due to insurance changes, we can’t afford it. Around the same time, my company cut hours, then wages, then did a mass layoff in late 2024. I found myself unemployed once again.
Now, I am fighting to keep our home from foreclosure.
The gig economy has changed—delivery drivers make a fraction of what they once did. I apply for jobs daily, but finding work that allows me to care for my disabled wife and homeschool our son is a challenge. I am doing everything in my power, but I need help.

Semper Fi in Others
As a Marine, asking for help is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. But I believe in the power of faith and community. I believe that God moves through people, and I am praying that someone will see this and answer the call.
I need to raise funds to stop the foreclosure on our home, cover outstanding bills, and help with the costs of my wife’s medical needs. (Approx $42,000). The breakdown is $27K to cover the foreclosure problem, $1700 to cover cost for electrical damages caused by the last winter storm, and the remaining $13,300 to cover for medical premiums and surgery co-pays.  I am looking at options to get the medical cost paid down.

I know times are hard for so many, but if my story touches your heart, please consider donating. Any amount helps, and if you can’t give, sharing this with others who might be able to would mean the world to me.

The Marines taught me to never leave a brother behind. Today, I am hoping that someone will say, “We’ve got your back.”

Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring. And thank you for being part of my family’s fight.

Semper Fi, and God bless.
