My name is Curtis, and I’m reaching out because I’m trying to rebuild my life after a year of loss and instability. In 2025, everything changed for me. After my roommate’s dog attacked me, I was told I had to move out immediately. I found myself couch surfing, feeling isolated and unsupported, while my former roommates stayed behind. It was a painful experience that left me without a place to call home.

At the same time, the music studio where I worked burned down, taking away my main source of income and my creative outlet. Music has always been my passion, and losing the studio felt like losing a part of myself. Since then, I’ve been working a dishwashing job at a friend’s restaurant just a few times a month, barely scraping by and living with the constant fear of becoming homeless again. I’m one missed paycheck away from losing my current place and letting down my roommate, and honestly, I’m scared. I don’t want 2026 to be as unstable as 2025.

The funds from this fundraiser will help me rebuild and find stability again. They’ll provide a cushion for rent and basic needs, so I can avoid homelessness and focus on getting back on my feet. They’ll also give me a chance to pursue my passion for music again, whether that’s building a small home studio or finding a new space to create. I am so grateful for anyone who would like to lend a hand. Some days I feel so alone and unsupported, so it really would mean the world to me.
