From coma to courage — he survived the impossible. Now he needs our help to keep fighting.
⸻
On April 30th, my boyfriend Curtis Vaughn’s life changed forever. He was in a catastrophic accident that left him disemboweled, with a punctured aorta, shattered bones, failing kidneys, and a critically injured liver and heart. Doctors told us he wasn’t going to make it.
But Curtis defied every odd.
He spent nearly three months in a coma, most of it in a vegetative state, surviving only through machines — a ventilator, feeding tube, and heavy sedation. Every day felt like goodbye. But somehow, against all expectations, he woke up.
Curtis just came home from the hospital a few days ago. It’s a miracle. But our battle isn’t over — it’s just beginning.
⸻
The Reality We’re Facing Now:
Curtis still needs:
• Medical equipment not covered by insurance (wheelchair, mobility tools, hygiene aids)
• 24/7 care as he regains strength and motor skills
• Speech and physical therapy to regain communication and movement
• Nutritious food to support brain healing and organ recovery
• Travel costs for life-saving surgeries still scheduled 8 hours away in Sacramento
I’ve had to take unpaid time off work to care for him full time. Renting cars, paying for gas, buying healthy food, and covering our basic bills has become impossible. We are truly struggling, but I will not let him go without what he needs to survive and recover.
⸻
❤️ Why We Need Your Help:
Curtis has been through the unimaginable. This man — who doctors thought would never wake up — is smiling, trying to talk, and holding my hand again. There’s so much light still in him.
But without help, we can’t afford to continue the therapies, equipment, or care he desperately needs.
Your donation will help:
• Keep a roof over our heads
• Get Curtis to his upcoming surgeries
• Provide the medical supplies and therapies he needs
• Give him the nutrition and support to heal fully
Even $5 helps. Sharing this helps. Praying for him helps.
