Help Cupcake Get Life-Saving Treatment For Hyperthyroidism

Hi, my name is Kye, and I'm reaching out on behalf of my best friend and partner in crime, Cupcake. We rescued Cupcake back in 2013, and since then, she has been my constant. Through every move, every challenge, and every happy ending she has been by my side, offering a good cuddle.

Recently, Cupcake was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, a serious but treatable condition that causes weight loss, high heart rate, anxiety, and can eventually lead to heart disease or kidney disease in cats. The most effective and curative treatment available is radio-iodine therapy (I-131) which is a one-time procedure that targets and eliminates the overactive thyroid tissue, its success rate is approximately 95%.

Unfortunately, Cupcake had a bad reaction to the first-line medication, methimazole, which caused distressing side effects and made it unsafe to continue. This has left radioiodine therapy as our best, and kind of only, hope for restoring her health and giving her the long, happy life she deserves. Aside from her hyperthyroidism, she is perfectly healthy and in great shape.

As much as it hurts to ask, I’m 20 and work a low paying job, so I need help covering the cost of this treatment. Radioiodine therapy typically costs $2,000-2,500, which is far beyond what I can manage on my own right now. I'm doing everything I can to keep her comfortable and stable in the meantime, but the sooner we can get her the treatment, the better her chances of full recovery.

Cupcake has been with me for over a decade. She’s one of those cats that has made me feel like the chosen one because she only tolerates everyone else. She’s been my rock since I was a child.
