My name is Cucumber, and I’m a three-legged dog with a big heart and an even bigger wish. For the third year in a row, I’ve asked Chewy Claus for a wheelchair, but it hasn’t arrived yet. Three is my lucky number, so I’m hoping this is my year! I get around pretty well on my three legs, but lately, it’s been getting harder. My joints hurt more, and after walks, I need long breaks. Sometimes, my parents have to carry me home because hopping gets too tough. I want to keep up with my friends and go on adventures, but it’s getting harder to do it all on my own.
My mom says wheelchairs for dogs like me, with a front leg amputation, are expensive. She knows it’s time for me to have one, especially as I get older, even though I don’t feel old at heart! I want to keep running, playing, and enjoying life to the fullest. This year, I’ve been the very best boy. Two foster dogs came to stay with us this winter, and I shared all my toys and treats. I cuddled with them and taught them how to be “inside dogs” since they’d never been inside before. My foster brother found a forever home, and I know my foster sister will too because I’ve taught her all the tricks to be the cutest dog ever. I’m also proud to say I haven’t eaten anything I shouldn’t this year, which means no emergency vet visits for my mom!
I know a wheelchair is a big wish, but I’m really hoping this is the year my dream comes true. My mom always says, “third time’s a charm, right?” With your help, I could go on long walks again, run with my friends, and keep being the happy, playful dog I love to be. Thank you for reading my story and for any support you can give to help make my Christmas wish come true.
