Hello, my name is Crystal. I am a single mother of six children, and right now, we are facing an incredibly difficult time. Our neighbor Eid, who was more like family to us, tragically lost his life in a devastating house fire. The fire was so intense that it not only took Eid from us but also left his son Hazem with only a few close friends and neighbors for support. The aftermath has left our own home with severe physical damage, both inside and out. The smoke damage is so serious that we have to discard most of our belongings, and the structural risk from the neighboring house means we must leave immediately for our safety.

This experience has been especially hard on my children, some of whom have special needs. The trauma and grief are overwhelming, and we are working with a team of in-home therapists to help us process what has happened. Our home—the only one my children have ever known—is no longer safe, and protecting their mental health is my top priority. We have no choice but to relocate while our home is repaired and the neighboring house is demolished.
