Hi, my name is Courtney and today I received a text from my aunt that caused me to be paralyzed with fear. The text read, “My house is on fire” I wasn’t sure if she was joking about the Texas heat but I knew it was not funny. My Aunt Crystal lives in New Caney, TX and her house was struck by lightening at approximately 5am CST on Friday, May 3, 2024. She heard a loud sound followed by sizzling, shortly after all of the alarms in her house started to sound. She was able to evacuate to safety along with her son, 2 grandchildren ( both under 4) and 1 dog. Unfortunately, Prince ( her other dog) did not make it out safely. Her son was able to grab a hamper full of clothes and a few small items but so much has been destroyed.
Please consider donating to assist with basic needs while they navigate their next. There is an immediate need for clothes, toiletries, food, medicine, replacing valuable documents and records etc.
They have a long road ahead of them and while she is too humble to ask, it is absolutely okay to ask for help.
Anything will help!
