My name is Crystal Meklisand and I am not one to ask for help, including financial assistance. I am a hard worker, but today I went to Chick-fil-A and as I was leaving my table, I tripped over the metal piece. I fell onto the floor where my ankle went into a position I could not get up. My husband came back in, saw me on the floor, and a retired firefighter came up and picked me up and carried me to the car. From there, we went to Holy Spirit Emergency Room where I spent 9 hours. They did X-rays and a CT scan, and it turned out my ankle was broken in 3 places. I also had to be put to sleep for a closed reduction procedure where they realigned the bones in my ankle. After that, they put me in a splint until I saw the surgeon a week later. I had the surgery on March 11th and got a plate with 7 bolts and 2 screws. Afterward, I was sent home with no weight bearing, rest, etc. I went back on March 26th to get stitches out. My surgeon said everything looks good, including X-rays. So, I go back on April 8th; they will do more X-rays and check the progress on when to start therapy. My ankle is still a little bruised and swollen, but the surgeon said I will have that maybe even for a year. So, I have a way to go yet. If you can share this and find it in your heart to donate, it would mean a lot. My medical bills are paid, but I still have housing bills and I can't go back to work for a while. Chick-fil-A sent me an email that they denied my case because the table wasn't broken and said, 'I am sorry for your injury, but they're not going to pay.' Then they said it was my wrist, but it was my ankle. So, I called and told them they are confused; it's my ankle and I will be getting an attorney. So, it's going to be a process. Please share and keep me in your prayers, and if you can give, please do. It would be appreciated. Thank you and God bless.
