Hi, my name is Jennifer Gomez. I work with Crystal. We all wanted a way to be able to help her during this time, and I am going to use Crystal's words to help tell her story.
"This is hard to write, but here it goes: In the last few weeks, I've been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. I've never been more scared in my life, and it still doesn't feel real. I wanted to share my story to encourage other women (and men) to do their self-breast checks and advocate for themselves—the lump I felt did not feel like what I 'imagined' a cancer lump would feel like. I had just stopped breastfeeding when I felt something rope-like, almost like a muscle. I attributed it to the vast amount of changes my body went through after breastfeeding. After some time, when it started to feel larger, I went in. I wish I had gone sooner but am grateful at least to catch it now. I have a long road of treatment ahead, but I'm faithful God will get me through it. I am so thankful for my amazing family, friends, and doctors supporting me through this. Please keep me and my family in your prayers."
