Hi, my name is Cylys Emler and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help.

My mom was recently diagnosed with invasive ductal breast cancer. It’s aggressive, and it’s already changed everything. She’s not just my mom — she’s our only parent, our everything. She’s the person who has held our family together through everything life has thrown at us. And now, she’s facing one of the hardest fights of her life.

She’s extremely sick. Doctors told us she will need a double mastectomy soon. She can’t work anymore because of how fast this is progressing and how much pain she’s in. Watching someone you love go through this kind of suffering, knowing there’s nothing you can do to take it away, it’s heartbreaking.

We’re struggling, badly. Emotionally. Financially. Just trying to survive each day.

My mom is also a new grandma — she has a 2-month-old grandbaby who she loves more than anything. She lights up when she sees her, even through the pain. But even that joy has been dimmed because of how sick she’s become.

Cancer has taken so much from us already. Just a few years ago, we lost my grandfather — her dad — to prostate cancer. Now we’re facing this nightmare all over again.
