Help Cruz's Velorio Film Come to Life
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Cruz,
I am a Navy veteran and a passionate filmmaker based in Los Angeles, CA. My love for horror films inspired me to follow my dreams of being a filmmaker. Being a part of the horror community has taught me to love and enjoy my films, knowing that there is always something out there for someone. Horror has always been a naturally progressive genre, and one that, outside of the community, doesn't get much love. Some of my favorite films include “The Exorcist,” “Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” “Bride of Chucky,” and “The Shining.” Some of my credits include: “Don’t Say It,” “Deadnog,” and “Llorona.” After serving 8 and a half years in the Navy, I decided to follow this dream by pursuing my education at the Los Angeles Film School, where I will be obtaining my Bachelor's degree in Directing for Film. Currently, I am on my final leg of this journey, and I am seeking funding for my thesis film "Velorio".
"Velorio" is a supernatural/horror film about Diana, an overworked funeral home assistant, who is told she must spend the night with Doe; a mysterious cadaver scheduled for a late-night viewing. As the night wears on, Diana's guilt and anxiety of always choosing work over family begin to seemingly feed the mysterious cadaver, who just might not be as dead as she seems.
The funds donated will help feed the crew, cover rental expenses such as props and set dressing, makeup and special FX, as well as help with the costs of post-production editing, color grading, and sound mixing. Furthermore, any additional funds will help with the fees of submitting to film festivals, with "Screamfest 2025" being at the top of the list.
This film is no longer just mine; this film belongs to every single crew and cast member that are taking time out of their lives in pursuit of the same dream. Our production assistants, gaffers, grips, sound mixers, makeup artists, producers, and cast members have all come together to make our film possible. Any amount helps. Every donation matters and will be put to use. Myself and the entire "Velorio" cast and crew will be grateful.
