It is with great sadness that I write to say my beloved cat, Crookshanks, has recently been diagnosed with mammary carcinoma. This form of cancer is aggressive and can spread quickly. Fortunately, it was detected early. The good news is that the cancer has not spread yet and is localized to one spot. The surgery she needs to help slow the metastasis and comfortably elongate her life is called a unilateral mastectomy. This will remove the mammary glands on her right side that are currently affected by the tumor. A mastectomy will give her the best prognosis of nearly 4 years or more before any spreading could occur. If we do not perform this surgery, the cancer will spread before the end of the year. Thankfully, a mastectomy has a short recovery window and will give her a chance at a longer life. I am trying to do everything I can to ensure Crooks has the best outcome for a comfortable and happy life. To do so, I need your help.
The vet has given an estimate between $3000 - $4000 for surgery. I am asking for your help to reach the $3000.00 goal. The variation in cost accounts for any additional time and anesthesia.
To those who have had the pleasure of knowing her, you know just how special she is. Crooks is endlessly talkative and will trick you into feeding her more wet food anytime she can. I do not know another cat who loves belly rubs as much as she does. Crooks is only ten years old. I was looking forward to another decade with her. However, this diagnosis has cut her life in half. Any form of help you can give is greatly appreciated. Well wishes and thoughts of hope are also accepted. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any donation you can offer.
