Help Cricket and Tuula Rise Above Alopecia

Donation protected
Hello, friends, family, and kind strangers,

We are reaching out to share the story of our beautiful nieces, Cricket and Tuula, both of whom are battling alopecia areata. Alopecia areata is an autoimmune condition where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks hair follicles, leading to hair loss. These two incredible 16-year-olds have been navigating this challenging journey for the past two years, and while they continue to stay strong and resilient, they are in need of some support to help restore their confidence and sense of normalcy.

Cricket and Tuula have always been full of life, always laughing, always smiling, and bringing joy to everyone around them. They can be seen in and around Calgary playing in their band Rebel Grrrlz, inspiring audiences to sing and dance along. But losing their hair has had a deep emotional impact on them. No one should have to feel self-conscious or out of place because of something they can’t control. They have shown remarkable courage, but as with any chronic condition, it can take a toll on their self-esteem.

That’s why we’re asking for your help. We want to raise funds to provide them with wigs, wig care, microblading (to help with eyebrows), and other beauty essentials that can help them feel more like themselves. These items will give them the chance to regain some of the confidence that alopecia has taken away. We believe that everyone deserves to feel beautiful and confident, regardless of what life throws at them.

The funds will go toward:

  • Wigs that are comfortable, stylish, and can help them feel like themselves again.
  • Wig care supplies to maintain the quality and longevity of their wigs.
  • Microblading to restore their eyebrows and help them feel more complete.
  • Lashes to help them feel more put together.
  • Medical expenses associated with a potential medical study (medications currently not covered by insurance)

On Saturday, March 15th, Jamie, the steadfast mother of Cricket and Tuula, will be shaving her head in a powerful act of solidarity to raise awareness and support for her children's journey with alopecia. This event will take place at the Ship and Anchor in Calgary from 2 PM to 5 PM, and we invite you to join us in showing your support.

Cricket and Tuula have faced many difficult days, but we know they are strong. With your support, we can help them through this chapter and remind them that they are loved, beautiful, and deserving of all the confidence and happiness in the world.

Thank you for taking the time to read their story. Any contribution, big or small, will make a meaningful difference in their lives. Your generosity will help give Cricket and Tuula the support they need as they continue to face this challenge head-on.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Becky, Joanie and the Goulds
