Help Create The Maine Audubon Mural
Tax deductible
Bangor Beautiful is collaborating with Maine Audubon to transform an ugly cement retaining wall on Broadway in Bangor through 5 murals of birds and their habitat by Alison Ross of Eastport, additional smaller murals by art students from Bangor and Brewer High Schools, and the planting of native gardens. This project will make a huge impact on a very busy and visible place in Bangor.
The Location
The mural and native plants will be located on the Family Dollar Retaining Wall on Broadway. This very busy and visible intersection is seen by over 10,000 people per day (Maine DOT, 2023 Traffic Data).
The Artist
Alison Brynn Ross is an artist, designer, and muralist based in downeast Maine. Please visit her website to learn more !
Why birds?
North America has lost 3 billion birds since 1970 primarily due to habitat loss (Science, 2019).
This project will help people connect the existence of 5 iconic Maine birds to the existence of their critical habitats. The native plantings will serve as an example and encourage citizens to plant native plants to create more of that necessary habitat.
Every contribution, no matter how small, plays a vital role in helping us achieve our goal. Join us in supporting this project and let’s work together to create a more beautiful Bangor for everyone!
