For my birthday, I am fundraising to cover the cost of materials for upcoming community art projects. I often make work to be used in social movements: murals, banners, prints for giveaways and for the streets, and projects with Youth Empowered in the Struggle (YES). This type of work doesn't always come with the same funding opportunities as decorative or depoliticized artwork. So, I'm seeing if my friends and comrades are willing to support some of this work.

I have several walls for political murals and plans for demonstrations with Youth Empowered in the Struggle.

With some extra funding, I plan to purchase:

New screens for screen printing posters with YES

Paper for posters to use at protests and on the streets

Primer to prime a large wall on the near west side for a mural

Spray paint for said mural

Muslin for prints that will be on picket signs and banners

I enjoy making art to help build power with social movements. I'm happy to commit my labor to this work, but it’s nice when I can at least not pay out of pocket for materials.
