Grief touches every family, yet there are so few public spaces dedicated to helping people process loss.

We're working to change that.

Together with The Little Wind Phone Project , we're raising funds to install a Wind Phone at Oregon Ridge Nature Center in Baltimore County—a peaceful place where anyone can pause, pick up a disconnected telephone, and "speak" to someone they love and miss.

The idea is beautifully simple. The phone isn't connected to anything, but for many people, speaking their thoughts out loud can be incredibly healing. Whether it's words of love, gratitude, regret, or simply "I miss you," a Wind Phone offers a quiet space for reflection and remembrance.

This project is especially meaningful to our family. It is inspired by the memory of my children's father, whose life touched so many people. While his story sparked this idea, our hope is that this Wind Phone becomes a place of comfort for the entire community—for anyone navigating grief, no matter who they have lost.

We've partnered with The Little Wind Phone Project, a Maryland-based nonprofit dedicated to bringing these healing spaces to communities across the country. Their first public Wind Phone installation in Montgomery County has already become a cherished community resource, and we're excited to bring that same opportunity to Baltimore County.

Your donation will help fund:
  • Construction and installation of the Wind Phone
  • Rotary telephone, Memorial plaque and customization
  • Long-term maintenance and stewardship

100% of any funds raised beyond the cost of this installation will support the mission of The Little Wind Phone Project, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, helping create additional Wind Phones, expand grief support initiatives, and bring these healing spaces to communities across the country.

Thank you for helping us bring this meaningful resource to Oregon Ridge and the Baltimore County community.

With gratitude,
Bayley Barwick
