Help create a Fantasy Comedy film!

Hi! My name is Kacper, I’m a 17-year-old filmmaker from Salisbury, and I’m raising funds for a project I’ve been writing and developing over the past few months: a medieval fantasy comedy titled Duke Desmund and the Quest for the Holy Hand Grenade!

This is a passion project—a wild, absurd, heartfelt adventure full of dry British humour, talking human horses, stale bread warfare, Zorro the vigilante, and yes... even Michael Jackson. Inspired by films like Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Hot Fuzz, with references to films like Kill Bill and The Force Awakens (which sparked my love for film at age 8), this story is both a parody and a tribute to the kind of movies that made me want to become a director!

About the Film -

The story follows Duke Desmund, a disgraced young noble sent by King Arthur on a quest to recover the legendary Holy Hand Grenade. Joined by his companion—a sarcastic, talking horse named Freddy—Desmund encounters a chaotic cast of characters including crypto monks, bread-hurling bums, and a mysterious assassin named Zorro. But as Desmund gets closer to his goal, he discovers a darker truth about Arthur’s motives…

The film is a 60-page screenplay, aiming for a runtime of just under an hour, shot over several months in and around Salisbury. It’s a no-budget production in spirit—but with your help, we can give it the production value it deserves!

What Your Donations Will Support -

Transparency is important to me. Here's how your support will be used:

Sound Equipment (£200)

Clean sound is half the viewing experience—especially with most of the filming being done outdoors. This will help us rent or buy mics and recorders to make the dialogue crisp and clear, like Desmund's awesome robes!

Costumes, Props & Makeup (£1,000)

From medieval robes and armour to fake swords and a glowing Holy Hand Grenade, we want the world to feel lived-in and immersive (but still ridiculous). I plan to thrift, sew, and DIY a lot of the costumes, however with this budget I would be able to elevate some aspects of the characters costumes.

Food for Cast & Crew (£300)

Keeping people fed is crucial. With long shooting days, snacks and meals will make sure our volunteer team stays energized and motivated.

Transport (£300)

Covers bus fares, fuel, and travel support for cast and crew to get to shooting locations across Wiltshire and Salisbury.

DVDs & Cast Copies (£200)

Everyone who works on the film will receive a DVD or digital copy as a thank-you and a keepsake. I donators of a certain amount will also be receiving a copy of the DVD as a thank you gift.

Location Fees & Insurance (£500)

While most locations are public, some historic ruins or estates may require permission fees or public liability insurance. I’d also like to donate to any free sites we use as a goodwill gesture.

Contingency & Post-Production (£500)

Covers unexpected costs like reshoots, weather delays, subscriptions (editing software, music licenses), or emergency gear replacement.

If anything is left over, it will go toward screening the film for the local community, going towards better equipment and/or helping fund a future project.
