Help Crazy George and Kitty Pappas's Steakhouse

Kitty Pappas Steakhouse has been a Woods Cross, Utah landmark since 1947 when Johnny & Kitty Pappas opened it together. Johnny died just over a decade later, and Kitty kept the restaurant going with the help of their children. In the last few decades, Kitty and her son Crazy George worked tirelessly to keep this unique institution alive: Kitty sizzling up her famous slabs of steak, and George waiting tables and serving up heavy portions of local color.
Kitty Pappas, 93, passed away on July 23rd after almost 75 years of running the restaurant.
In the last year, she and George had both suffered medical emergencies that kept them from running the restaurant. The titanium ball in George's hip broke, and they had to split his femur in half, take the old prosthetic out, and put a new prosthetic in. He still can only put 50% weight on that leg. As soon as he could get home on that half-repaired hip, George also brought Kitty home from the care center had been in while he was also hospitalized, and gave her the gift of passing away among family, in the home she dearly loved.
While Kitty Pappa's longtime and loyal employees have helped carry the burden of the restaurant in the last months, the restaurant suffered a blow it might not recover from. All this came at the end of the Covid-19 pandemic, which the restaurant had cobbled its way through. Just as things started looking up, Kitty fell ill and George broke his hip.
To say the last two years hit this tiny family gem of a restaurant hard is a blatant understatement. George needs help to pay off bills that piled up, to pay back taxes, the $7000 copay for his hip, and to get a leg up into the next phase of his life.
Please help care for George at this challenging moment. He has nourished and loved Woods Cross and Bountiful like no other. He needs a little tenderness from us, now.
