As some of you know, Chris was recently involved in an accident that ended up causing a pretty traumatic injury to his hand. After an emergency trip to the ER, and several appointments to an orthopedic office, as well as a hand specialist, it was determined he would need immediate surgery. The injury shattered some bones in one finger and knuckle, and caused some nerve damage, and was a break of such a nature the surgery center opted to use his hand surgery as a "teaching opportunity". Post surgery, when the cast and stitches were removed, it revealed two exposed pins that will have to stay in for 6-8 weeks to stabilize the bone. Projections for the future are good so far, however the recovery time will likely be long and require an undetermined amount of physical therapy. Chris works with his hands, painting and doing reconstruction/restoration work. People close to him know that he is a gifted musician who has played guitar for over thirty years. Hopefully, with time and therapy that gift will be restored. Given the extent of this type of injury he will not be able to return to work for at least 6-8 weeks, until the pins are out, and possibly more based on how much physical therapy will be required.
