Help Craig Bring Lightsaber Combat to JC and NYC

My name is Craig, and I am a Jedi.

Well, semi-professional Jedi. Since 2009, I've been studying and teaching lightsaber stage combat. Yes, it's a real thing, and yes, it is the nerdiest thing you will ever do. I have performed shows off-Broadway, in conventions, run tech, written scripts, and scholarly papers about fictional martial arts and a fictional weapon.

It's been a passion of my adult life.

Recently, I came into the opportunity to become a teacher with Ludosport, an international organization that trains and competes in lightsaber combat tournaments. It's rekindled a love of the community again, and would allow me to bring my passion to the JC/NYC area to teach and grow a new way to use this weird ass glowstick we've all come to love.

But opening a school, especially in the heart of the Empire (State), can be expensive. This is a labor of love, and a labor of community and I am asking for the community’s help.

With some thought to wiggle room and emergencies, I'd put the total to $1,500. Any remainder or overflow would go to the school's War Chest and cover other expenses (rentals, competitions, paying officials for their time, promotions, etc)

This entire endeavor is to create a community of expression and friendly competition between like-minded folk, for people to find direction, support, and an outlet in a time where those are lacking. As such, should I fail in my endeavors, the remaining money acquired would go to local charity. This is about giving back to the community, I'll see that done one way or the other.
