My name is Ken Whiteley, and I am reaching out because my daughter, her husband, and their family urgently need your help.
On August 27, 2025, my daughter, Michelle Whiteley Rayhill, took her husband, Craig, to the emergency room due to severe abdominal pain and swelling. After a CT scan and blood work, he was admitted to the hospital with a serious infection and inflammation of the terminal ileum and cecum. Doctors began treatment with IV antibiotics, pain management, and bowel rest, expecting improvement within a few days.
However, after six days without progress, another CT scan was performed. It revealed a perforated colon, and Craig was rushed into emergency surgery for repair, resection, and removal of toxic, infected material. What should have been a one-hour surgery turned into a four-hour operation, which the surgeon described as one of the worst cases he had seen in many years.
Craig spent 26 days in the hospital due to complications and a severe infection. After a discontinuance of antibiotics, sepsis developed.
Only four days after returning home, Craig was readmitted to the hospital. Doctors discovered an intra-abdominal abscess, restarted IV antibiotics immediately. Five more days spent in the hospital.
Craig still will face another major surgery to reverse the ileostomy once he regains sufficient strength.
Our need is two-fold:
1.) Prayers - We ask for your prayers for Craig's healing and strength for his wife, Michelle, and their three daughters.
2.) Financial support - Craig is a self-employed electrical contractor and the owner/operator of Rayhill Electric. He has been unable to work since August and will not be able to return until after his next major surgery and full recovery. Because his ileostomy reversal will occur in 2026, the family will face two consecutive years of deductibles and maximum out-of-pocket expenses, on top of their everyday living costs. The financial burden is overwhelming.
We are setting a goal of $25,000 to help the family through this difficult time. Any donation - large or small - will make a meaningful difference. If you would also consider sharing this fundraiser with friends, or on social media, we would be deeply grateful.
Thank you for your generosity, your compassion, and your prayers. May God bless each and every one of you for any support you feel led to give.
Please continue lifting up Craig, Michelle, and their three daughters in prayers. Thank you.
