Help COVID nurse fight cancer!

Felicia has been our coworker for the last 6 years at Covenant HealthCare working for the past 2 years with covid patients. She recently got diagnosed with breast cancer. With the vigorous treatment she is going to endure we want her to be able to focus on her treatment, her 2 kids and husband without worrying about the financial burden that will follow.

“I found a large, painful, lump in my breast in September and I thought it was breastfeeding related. It would not go away no matter what I tried.. so I ended up going to the doctor last month. She sent me for a mammogram and ultrasound. Those results were concerning, noticing multiple enlarged lymph nodes along with the mass. So they sent me for a biopsy of the mass and a lymph node last week.

We found out yesterday that I have breast cancer. Invasive ductal carcinoma. It's aggressive, fast growing, and has necrosis. I have probably had it for a while. It was not metastasized to the lymph node that they tested.

We are waiting for certain genetic markers to come back and I will probably have to have more tests done to see if it has spread anywhere else in my body. At this time the plan will be a year of chemo and I will need to have bilateral masectomies. I will be meeting with my oncologist Wednesday to make my treatment plan.

I do not want any sympathy. I am a very private person and not someone who puts her life out there, but this does not just effect me. My beautiful family and friends have to suffer with me in this diagnosis. So they can all use all of your support to lift them up during this dark time in our lives.”
