Help Cover Vet & Security Costs for Ataraxy Farm
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Melissa, on Canada Day this summer, my family had the pleasure of visiting Ataraxy Farm and meeting Blair and Kim, along with their goats, donkeys, mule, horses, chickens, guinea hens, cats and dogs. If you've been to the farm, you've been able to see and experience first hand what they are all about. Helping people heal, disconnect from their troubles, truly exemplifying the meaning of ataraxy, "state of serene calmness." Started as a form of therapy for Blair, a Canadian Armed Forces veteran who has PTSD as a result from his service in Bosnia, the farm enables those who visit time to relax, take a breath and renew. My daughter, who has IBS has turned a corner since our family started volunteering there. Kim and Blair give so much to others and now is our time to give back to them. Early in the morning of October 24 2022, they had a break in on the farm. Direct from their Facebook page, We have had another break in on the farm this morning at around 4am. Second one in 10 months. All evidence from our property cameras has been handed over to the RCMP.
Someone broke into our girls pen and removed one of the gates between our boys and girls and then opened the secondary wooden gate allowing all our boys in with our girls. We have been in contact with our vet and all the girls will be treated for their injuries. Our girls were in a lot of stress among other injuries. We are really baffled as to why someone wants to hurt our goats.
Farm tours are free, as Blair and Kim don't want cost to be a factor for those struggling. In this case, the vet bills are high and new security measures need to be taken and added, to protect the animals. It's our turn to say thank you to Kim, Blair, and all the animals that make Ataraxy Farm what it is. Please donate what you can to help.
