On Saturday morning, I said goodbye to my best friend and loyal service dog, Zola. She was 10 years and 8 months old, and had been by my side for almost her entire life — 10 years and 1 month. She passed away peacefully at home in my arms after a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer.

Zola wasn’t just a dog — she was my constant companion, my helper, and my family. For years, she gave me unconditional love and support, helping me navigate life with her steady presence. Her loss has left an unimaginable emptiness in my heart.

Over the past two months, as we tried everything we could to give Zola more time and keep her comfortable, her medical care added up quickly. Between hospital visits, tests, medications, and treatments, we’ve accumulated close to $8,000 in veterinary bills.
