Help Cover Unexpected Rent for Freelance Journalist

Earlier this month I learned that my super, of whom me and my roommates entrust to send our rent to our landlord's estate, has been pocketing our money. Not just this month but two months. While the estate is now trying to figure out where our money has gone we all have to cough up $1600. They're able to do so as they have full-time jobs. I'm a freelance journalist who does month to month. We're — well mostly my roommate who I send my rent to as he writes the checks— in the process of dealing with this mess legally and hope to get our money back. Something about a rent escrow for future payment. But as of now, I'm in a dire circumstance to come up with 1600 and need help for this crazy rent situation.

Update: I've been covering NYFF/TIFF while freelancing for the past few weeks and still facing the repercussions of the summer's incident. Been applying for day jobs while being one of the few Black Gen-Z voices in the film criticism scene. Raised my GoFundMe for 600 so I can catch up on rent + for food/transportation.
