Memorial For Thay, Rosemery and Family

On April 16, 2020, at approximately 10am, a fire broke out in an apartment complex in Pomona taking the life of Thay Hung Leyva, a 17-year-old senior at Garey High School. The fire also left Thay's younger sister, Rosemery Gallo Leyva (13 years old) in critical condition and her grandmother with minor burns. The fire broke out in their living room (source is unknown), leaving the two sisters trapped in their room together. Their grandmother was able to escape and call for help, but remains in the hospital due to injuries sustained in the fire.

On behalf of Thay's family, we ask for your support in raising funds for Thay's funeral and her sister's medical expenses. We know everyone is facing financial and/or emotional burdens with everything going on in the world right now, but anything you can give would be greatly appreciated. Lastly, we would like to thank the staff and students at Garey High, the Pomona Unified School District, and the entire community of Pomona for their thoughts, prayers and condolences during this time.
