Hi, I’m Zach Jones—Staci’s eldest son. After 19 years of complex health challenges, Mom’s passing on July 6, 2025, at the age of 56, was sudden and heartbreaking. During a second emergency surgery to stop a severe infection in her abdomen, doctors discovered advanced bone cancer—news we received only a couple days before she slipped away. She spent her final few days in the ICU and received end of life care to keep her comfortable until she passed. All eight of her children, and her sister, were at her side; one of her sons, Christian, was granted a two-week leave from his church mission and spent Mom’s final two days with us in the hospital. We were able to grant one of her greatest wishes, to die with all she loved most beside her.
We miss her dearly. We miss the quiet comfort of simply being with her; pulling up a chair, placing a hand on the armrest so she could rest her fingers lightly on ours. Pain kept us from holding hands, but those gentle touches let us speak heart-to-heart, a memory we’ll always carry.
Staci is survived by her eight children, their spouses, fourteen grandchildren, and her own sweetheart, David.
Why We’re Asking for Help
Off and on for nearly two decades, Dad—David Jones—stepped away from full-time work, sometimes for years at a time, to give Mom round-the-clock care. As medical bills grew, the younger kids at home pitched in however they could: covering day-to-day expenses, preparing meals, and helping with Mom’s daily care. That devotion let her stay at home, but it drained every financial cushion we had. Now, alongside our grief, we face the immediate cost of her funeral and the medical balances that piled up during her final months, as well as hoping to allow David (spouse) and children to appropriately grieve.
