Help Cover Sarah's Excessive Medical Expenses

My name is Tonnia Marcum, and Sarah Grubert is my cousin. Over the last few years, she has suffered from multiple painful, debilitating, and quite honestly terrifying medical issues that an army of medical professionals have struggled to diagnose. She has been poked, prodded, medicated, and through it all, her amazing husband and beautiful children have done all they could to support her. Over the last two years, things have progressed to the point that they can no longer do it all without help. Sarah has not been able to drive, let alone continue to work outside the home for the last couple of years, bringing their two-income home down to a single-income home with daunting medical expenses that far exceed their cover. She is not able to drive, not able to be home alone due to the risk of falls and seizures, and is essentially homebound except for her medical appointments and short trips out and about with Scott and T. Sarah, and her family needs our help.

Why am I raising money for Sarah? I am asking for help because I know that she can't bring herself to do it herself. The physicians are trying everything possible to find an answer to her chronic debilitating medical issues, and that means a lot of appointments, medications, and procedures. Many of the medicines are off-label treatments for her symptoms, and they can only treat the symptoms as the myriad of tests have not provided a definitive diagnosis to date. The most recent round of procedures (surgeries) have been considered "experimental" by the FDA, even though these same procedures are commonplace and entirely accepted in Europe. That lack of FDA acceptance means that insurance does not cover much, if any, of the surgeries that are required to help relieve the constant pain. Sarah and her family need our help.

What is the money I am raising going towards? Every penny of the funds raised will be given to Sarah and Scott to cover extensive medical bills and future medical expenses. Sarah is still going under tests to determine the cause of her medical issues. We have seen her tested for everything from Parkinson's to MS, and until they can determine what is causing her pain, seizures, and other horrible symptoms, the medical bills will continue to mount up. Sarah and her family need our help.

I realize that these are challenging times, but I also know that I had seen Sarah and Scott do everything in their power to always be there for their friends and family even when they, too, were going through tough times. Sarah and her family need our help. I know that I may have set the bar high for a fundraising goal, but if we all give $10, $5, heck, even $1 and share the link with your friends, we can help Sarah and her family.
