We are raising funds for my beautiful mother, Roshni Dike. If you ever had the pleasure of being around her, then your life was blessed. She had the biggest heart and would offer love and support to anyone she met. She devoted her life to sharing that love and kindness without any hesitation. She is the strongest person I know, and even when life threw challenges at her, she would always persevere. She worked full-time and took care of three kids with the help of my dad and grandparents. She has been through some of the toughest battles in life: losing a son to leukemia, and her mother just 6 months earlier, raising a special needs son, and nursing my dad from a back surgery. While he was down, she was still supporting and getting the job done. She was very involved in our lives by putting us in sports, taking us to Special Olympics events with my brother, and giving us an amazing childhood. We have been blessed to travel and have lots of experiences anybody would be envious of. She made sure we had everything we needed and then some, always putting our needs and everyone else's above hers.
Then she was forced to retire when she broke her arm, and that's when they found out she had metastatic breast cancer. She was now forced to stop and try to heal. She fought bravely for 10 years until the cancer eventually won the battle. But even while she was in chemo, losing a leg, and having cancer spread to her liver and struggling through all that, she was still putting people ahead of her. My parents are the strongest people I know and have been through so much together, and the funeral costs are expensive as we all know. The mortuary sold them on a package that was supposed to be all-inclusive, so when the inevitable happened, there would be no stress. But when my dad went into the office, there was so much that they were charging for, to the excess of an extra $6,000.
My parents will never admit they are struggling, but I thought I would put this out to see if I could ask y'all humbly for any assistance during this time. To help ease the burden for my family at this time. Any bit helps; I just don't want to see my father have to worry about spending our last and stressing when he should be mourning his other half.
The Funeral will be held at westminster memorial park on april 10th. more details will be posted soon.
