It's been a whole year!

This young lady has gone thru 14 surgeries, 11 specialists for her throat, skin, elbows, fingers and mental health.

91 days in hospital learning to see her reflection in the first place and then learning to accept her appearance.

She has overcome academic hurtles such as completing Math 10 and writing and rewriting her healing journey to complete Wellness 10 from a hospital bed.

Attempting school for Science and English Literature were not a good fit while having numerous appointments and trips into another province for various procedures.

Our now sweet 16 year old baby girl is still missing out on driving! The freedom she could have been experiencing is pushed waaay into the future.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation kindly granted her wish to meet Metallica by sending her and her family to Toronto in the Spring.

Over summertime, the heat is beyond hazardous for any grafted skin. Her body needs to relearn how to regulate temperature. She still has difficulty feeling, for example, when a mosquito lands and bites, gentle breezes and butterfly kisses. But she did attend Burn Camp in Kananaskis to meet other youth who have been burned; she got to see other people her own age along their healing journey; she got to identify with kids who have been along a similar road.

UPCOMING: There is an international conference being held in Covington, Kentucky (across the river from Cincinnati, Ohio) this November. What a great opportunity for the whole family to: meet others who've been through similar experiences, bond together, learn coping skills in order to move forward, and become a part of the Burn Community.

This trip is expensive. All the prices are in US dollars. Our goal is CAD$15,000.
