Hi, my names Chase. I'm Randy's only biological child. Those who knew my dad would know he had so many people out there who called him "pops" or "dad." His heart was filled with love of so many people. Sadly we lost Randy Scott Hakes on October 15th after a strong fight against Covid 19.
My childhood was spent with him teaching me how to play pool (even though I hated it), and when I'd ask to watch cartoons, he would put on this weird "Donald Duck in Mathmagic Land" tape he had where Donald Duck learned how to play pool by using math (I only asked for cartoons that one time). On weekends we'd go rummage saling with his mom (my grandma), or go for drives. He was an avid reader and loved history. He was the most creative man Ive ever met and the way his mind worked was so fascinating to me.
But of all the things he was known for, his kindness and his sense of humor was probably the most. His laugh would fill up a room and you knew instantly that he was in there and probably made a joke about someone (with love of course). He would do anything to help those in his life by whatever way he could.
Those who knew him, knew the health struggles he had. Unfortunately those health struggles left him incapable of working and having life insurance. I'm trying to cover expenses as much as I can, but I'm asking for help. He just wasn't my dad and hero, he was my friend. And he was so many other peoples adopted dad and a friend and brother to many.
Any funds raised will go directly towards funeral expenses and expenses associated with the passing of Randy. We will be having a memorial service at a TBD date.
