Great and Small, is a nonprofit PATH Intl. Premier Accredited Therapeutic Riding Center in Boyds, MD. Our mission is to provide Equine-Assisted Activities and Therapies (EAAT) to children and adults of all ages affected by a range of physical, developmental, emotional, and learning disabilities. Through a supportive and therapeutic engagement with horses we strengthen and empower our riders and participants, helping them develop their full potential. Our horses are the heart of our programs, and we strive to give them the best care possible.
Quincey joined our team of horses in 2021, and since then his peaceful presence and humble service in lessons and equine assisted activities at Great and Small has impacted hundreds of lives.
In recent months, Quincey has struggled with ongoing lameness issues related to his navicular disease. In an effort to help Quincey enjoy the comfortable retirement he deserves, we have been working with our team of local vets on diagnostics and possible treatments. Finally, after deciding to take Quincey to Marion DuPont Scott Equine Hospital for advanced medical imaging and consultation, we were able to determine the source of his pain. The cost of that visit alone totaled over $3000. Our next scheduled appointment is to have specialty horse shoes put on that will help support his tendons and internal hoof structures. While we believe it (and Quincey) will be worth it, the cost of the diagnostics and treatment is a strain on our small nonprofit budget. We are humbly asking that you help us to help support Quincey. We feel we owe him this after his many years of service. Those of you who have met Quincey know just how special he is.... as the vets at his recent hospital appointment wrote on his stall sign, he is "a very good boy".
Any amount is appreciated and will go towards Quincey's medical expenses. (Surplus funds will go towards the care of our other program horses).
Thank you.
