Help Ollie Pay for Their Surgery Recovery Needs

Donation protected
Hello,

If you've been following me for a little while, you might remember a few years ago when I needed an emergency revision for bottom surgery to remove erectile tissue that had grown back. Unfortunately, I need another revision for the same issue, again. This is very frustrating and scary for me. The article I wrote back then was taken down with the closure of i-D, you can read it at the link I'll post below. While the situation is less dire and painful than a few years ago, the surgery is still necessary and will take me out for at least a month. To make matters even more complicated, I am still on the tail end of the recovery period from my top surgery this past August. While I managed to save for a full year and avoid fundraising for that procedure, the proximity of this surgery, as well as the severity of its recovery, is preventing me from being able to do the same again.

The surgery will be on January 7th, but I have the space to start fundraising more than a week in advance, like last time, so I decided to do that. I'm lucky enough to have insurance that will cover the procedure itself. However, I'm asking for assistance with the associated costs of pursuing surgery. I've broken down what these costs look like below. One large stressor is how long I will be out of work. My current income is almost entirely made up of my restaurant job, and I will be physically unable to work for at least a month after the surgery. Once I can return to work, it will still be a little while before I will be able to work the amount I normally can.

I arrived at the number I did as follows: $4000 to cover my rent and utilities while I recover. $2000 for a hotel room/Airbnb as I won't be able to handle the four flights of stairs in my current apartment for at least a week, as well as another $2000 for food and transportation during recovery for myself and those who will be helping take care of me. Lastly, I'm asking for $2000 to help make up lost wages while I'm out of work, with another $2000 for flex spending because experience has shown me surgical recovery always comes with some surprise expenses.

Thanks for reading. I'm very grateful to have the community and support I do, and I appreciate you making it this far into the post. Every bit I can fundraise takes a large burden off of me at this very stressful time. Please share if you can and thank you again. <3
