Two weeks ago I thought I was going to be doing this to try and save my cat, Nani. She had stopped eating, had an infection, and needed a blood transfusion, and I was going to try raise the money to get her the care she needed. However, when I got her home, gave her a dose of steroids and antibiotics, and she didn’t get any better, I knew she was dying.
She fought to the very end to stay with me. My mom rescued Nani in July of 2011 from the outside. She was approximately 2 years old and feral. My mom spent almost a year ignoring Nani until she finally decided to trust my mom.
Nani was very special. She’s the most empathic animal I’ve ever met (and that’s saying a lot because all my animals have been very empathic). We bonded when my dad died in 2012 and I went to stay with my mom; Nani would come sit with me in the den when I was crying. She made sure she was far enough away that I couldn’t touch her, but it was very clear she was there for me. Nani changed both mine and my mom’s lives (we were dog people before we met her).
I know times are tough, and that’s why I’m doing this. I need help paying for Nani’s medical bills and her private cremation. I understand if you can’t afford to donate, but if you can, I would really appreciate it. Any amount helps, and if you are willing to share this, I would appreciate that, too. I feel guilty for even needing to ask. I know Nani and my mom are together now.
