I never imagined I’d be writing something like this. A few days ago, I lost my mom—my best friend, my anchor, the one person who always made sure I was okay, even when she wasn’t. After fighting cancer for two years she still passed away suddenly. She spent her whole life putting others first, working two jobs just to keep the lights on and food on the table, never asking for help, never expecting anything in return. Now, with no savings and no policy in place, I’m left facing the reality that I can’t afford to bury her. I can’t even begin to grieve properly while trying to piece together the cost of this.
