I'm setting up this GoFundMe on behalf of my mom, Emilia, who is facing a lot of unexpected medical expenses due to recent injuries in our family.

On January 26, my sister fell and broke her arm in New York a few days before our mom was supposed to fly in from Jakarta, Indonesia. On January 28, my grandma fell and broke her leg in Jakarta. Both required surgery and hospitalization.

Torn between her daughter in New York and her mother in Jakarta, it was ultimately decided that my mom would go through with her trip to take care of her daughter while remotely arranging for care for her mother.

My sister and grandma's surgeries were successful but also very costly (especially if we include the extensive physical therapy they would both have to go through). My mom bears the majority of our family's financial responsibilities. She is a single mother who has to work 70+ hours a week to support her family, acting as our grandma's main caretaker and regularly helping both me and my sister when our own income falls short of making rent.

With the recent and upcoming medical bills on top of an already less-than-ideal financial situation, my mom is unable to shoulder this on her own. Throughout all my life, she has always gone above and beyond to support me. Setting up this GoFundMe to help ease her financial burden is the least I can do for her. The funds from this campaign will be used to help cover:
