I was recently reminded by a dear friend that it’s ok to need help. Whether it be a friend to talk to, a prayer from a neighbor, or meal to feed your kids. It’s okay.
My journey started 10 years ago. I knew that something within me felt wrong. I went to my “lady dr” and was told you’re fine, nothings wrong, tests read slightly to the negative sometimes. This was my dr, I trusted her. She delivered my youngest baby so obviously I trusted her.
Fast forward, ten years… an entire decade! I finally branch out and find a new dr. I was so nervous. But guess what, there was something wrong. 73 days straight on a heavy period. I couldn’t function! After a series of tests we find out I have multiple masses. My biopsies came back fast indicating I had uterine cancer. And there were other masses on my ovaries to get biopsies from.
4/4/25 (only 8 weeks after my first appointment) I had a total hysterectomy. At this point we find out my left ovary was damaged & pushed down. There was a massive amount of scar tissue from having my tubes clamped. Which is the original time frame that I felt something was wrong.
Ladies… please, please listen to your body. You know if something is wrong. It’s ok to disagree with your dr. It’s ok to get a second opinion.
If you’ve read this far, I appreciate you. I hope it will help someone else to realize it’s ok to put your health first.
I will be off work for an extended time. Unfortunately life still keeps going when you’re down. If you have it in your heart to help with a prayer, a listening ear, or a small monetary donation. Any donations will go towards medical expenses & to make sure the kids still get a good meal on the table.
