Help cover medical bills from emergency left eye surgeries
Donation protected
My name is Chris Skagen, and I live up in the mountains of Colorado, in Salida. I have always loved recreating in the outdoors and spending time with my wife and two kids!
On March, 28th, I was playing at home with my 8 month old black lab named Lilly. She kicked my left eye and ruptured the cornea. We rushed to the local hospital, where I was transferred by REACH medical response helicopter to Memorial Central hospital in Colorado Springs. I had emergency surgery that night to try and rebuild the eye. Most of the contents, including the majority of my iris and the ocular lens fell out of my eye. Since then, I have had a string of appointments with doctors three hours away from home in Denver to evaluate the issue and try to see if they can restore vision. I have at least one more surgery, including one today on April 11th, to try and determine retina damage. I have been blind for two weeks, and it is unknown if I will be blind in my left eye forever.
Any help to cover the inevitable mountain of medical debt from the multiple surgeries and appointments with eye doctors is greatly appreciated!
