Holly had a massive brain bleed and stroke on September 25, 2023. Initially, she was in a coma for 3 weeks, then slowly started to regain consciousness. She spent many weeks in acute care, and then rehab.....we thought we were seeing some substantial progress. Sadly, just as 2023 was coming to a close, Holly was admitted to Vanderbilt (for the second time during her rehabilitation) for intense abdominal pain. In the effort to figure out the baseline issue with her digestive system, she underwent a colonoscopy and an endoscopy. The morning after these two procedures were done, Holly suffered another massive brain bleed and stroke, this time on the other side of her brain. We are now looking at basically starting the entire process over, except we are in a worse position for her progress due to the damage done by the first stroke. Holly has been diagnosed with a very rare bleeding disease call CAA (Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy). This disease is characterized by the accumulation of the amyloid within the small/medium sized cerebral vessels, and the amyloid deposition results in the fragile vessels that manifest in brain bleeds. There is currently no known cure for this disease other than relieving symptoms and rehab when possible.

Holly continues to show us that she is fighting for her life. We will keep praying for Gods miracles in her journey. Over the last 3+ months, over 1 million dollars in medical bills have been accrued, and we are asking for help. If you are able to give in any way at all, our family would be ever grateful.
