Help Cover Legal Fees for Asylum-Seeking Professional Couple
Donation protected
We are assisting a family from Latin America who came to the U.S. under a humanitarian parole program which was recently terminated by the government. They are applying for asylum, and according to their lawyer they have a very strong case. They have a well-grounded fear of retribution and possibly death if they return to their home country (for this reason their names and personal details are withheld). Their main need is for funds to cover legal fees, which could be as much as 10,000.
Here is their statement, in the words of the husband:
"I am writing to respectfully request financial assistance to help cover the legal expenses associated ith our ongoing asylum request case. This situation has placed an unexpected and significant economic burden on me, and I am seeking support from the community and organizations to ensure fair representation and due process.
"I am a risk analysis practitioner with a master’s degree in international affairs and broad experience in the private and public sectors. I arrived in the US in 2024 with my wife (who is also a master’s degree holder with experience in the humanitarian sector), and our two daughters, escaping political persecution in our home country. We arrived through the CHNV Humanitarian Parole program, which was abruptly revoked by the Trump administration, which also revoked our work permits until authorities review our asylum case. The legal costs, including attorney fees, court filings, and related administrative expenses, have exceeded my current financial capacity.
"I am committed to handling this matter responsibly and transparently, and any contributions received will be used solely to cover these legal obligations. Thank you very much for considering my request. Your generosity and understanding during this challenging time are deeply appreciated."
