Help Cover Kim’s Expenses While She’s Hospitalized

On Tuesday, March 2, 2021, Kim went in for a routine d&c. She fell very ill 2 days later and thought she was having complications from the procedure.  Her husband Vinh took her down to urgent care that following Sunday since she was not improving but getting worse by the day. Due to the severity of her symptoms, the doctors at the urgent care sent her straight to the ER at Memorial North. They immediately began running tests to try to pinpoint what was causing Kim to feel so sick and uncomfortable. They did an EKG and became very alarmed at what they saw and suspected she had a blood clot in her heart. They did a CT scan of her chest and abdomen to confirm and then sent her to Memorial Central via ambulance with lights and sirens to undergo emergency surgery. So at this point, all they knew was that Kim had pneumonia and a blood clot in her heart that needed to be removed as soon as possible.
She underwent emergency surgery where the doctors attempted to remove the blood clot but were unfortunately unsuccessful. Kim is still currently in the ICU where she has a team of specialists running more tests to try to determine how they will be able to safely remove this blood clot. She had a 2-hour MRI yesterday (03/08) but they still haven't come up with a plan. They are not sure if the blood clot originated from the surgery or if it was caused by something else. Her case is unusual since the surgery to remove it originally was unsuccessful, and her team is now concerned that it will move from her heart to her lungs causing a pulmonary embolism, so now on top of everything, she's now on bed rest.
As you can imagine, this is an incredibly scary time for Kim, and to top it off, she is unable to have her husband and daughter by her side due to COVID regulations and her compromised immune system from the pneumonia. Not only does she had to face this extremely dangerous situation head-on, but she also has to do it alone. She had a panic attack last night and had to be medicated just so she could get some rest, but then she had a significant drop in her blood pressure this morning. They don't know if it was from her round-the-clock blood thinners or the anxiety medication, but either way, it was very concerning.
Anyone who has been around Kim for more than 5 minutes knows that she is a beautiful person inside and out. She puts everyone else above herself. She works hard to support her family. Do you remember her last day off before all of his happens? No? Neither do I. Even from her hospital bed in the ICU, she continues to care for her clients to ensure they are taken care of while she is away. I myself have been on the receiving end of Kim's generosity more times than I care to count, and I know that is the same for many of you reading this. Kim is ALWAYS there when someone is in need, but now it's our turn to be there for her, Vinh, and Olivia. We all know that given the chance, Kim would bust out of that hospital and headed straight to the salon to take care of her staff and clients, but she is going to need to take time to recover, and we don't know what that timeframe is going to look like. This fund is being created to help alleviate the financial stress of rushing back to work so Kim can take the time her body needs to recover. As we all know, service industry professionals do not get the same financial protections as those with an average 9-5 job, so missing a significant amount of work can be very detrimental financialy, epsecially because she had to quarantine 2 weeks prior to her original surgery.
Now, I will tell you that Kim did not ask me to create this fund for her nor does she love the idea, but that's just because she has always been more accustomed to giving to others rather than receiving, but as her friend, I'm doing it anyway. It is linked directly to her bank account so she and Vinh are able to use what money they need whenever they need it.

PLEASE JOIN ME IN OFFERING SOME FINANCIAL PEACE OF MIND FOR KIM AND HER FAMILY SO SHE CAN SOLEY FOCUS ON HER RECOVERY.
Please share her story with any and everyone willing to pray for her, because we'll take all the prayers that we can get!

*We are coordinating meals for Vinh, Olivia, and Kim's mom so they don't have to worry about cooking on top of everything else. We are working on some kind of sign-up sheet and will post once we have all the details ironed out.  We will also post updates here as we get them from Kim

WE LOVE YOU, KIM! GET BETTER SOON <3
