Help Support the Ramirez Family in their time of need

My name is Courtney Eisenberg, Ken’s niece. I am arranging this fundraiser to help with medical expenses surrounding Ken’s medical emergency and funeral services upon his passing.
On Saturday afternoon, August 10, Ken was hanging out in his sanctuary, his garage. He stood up, said he felt dizzy and collapsed. Luckily, his son (Kyle), daughter (Jen) and son in law (Dustin) were home to call 911. Later we learned that Ken was stung by a bee under his eye around the same time, which caused him to go into anaphylactic shock, leading to a major cardiac event. Although chest compressions were initiated upon the arrival of paramedics, Ken arrived at the hospital without a heartbeat. After being resuscitated at the hospital, Ken’s vital signs looked promising. However, after much waiting and many tests, our family learned that Ken’s brain function is unresponsive and that he will not wake up.
While searching for answers to how this disaster unfolded, we learned that Ken was not managing his type 2 diabetes lately. In recent years, Ken privately struggled with alcohol use disorder and was seeking help in recovery. Our hearts are filled with sorrow, and we wish he had the opportunity for a second chance, but unfortunately that is not the reality.
We are initiating “comfort care” and will be taking Ken off any life-support measures this evening. As Ken transitions to eternal rest, his family and friends are close by his side at Corona Regional Medical Center. We encourage all friends and family to say goodbye, as we are anticipating his inevitable passage to the other side.
As we try to make sense of this heartbreaking tragedy, we are asking for support during this challenging time for our family. The funds will be used towards Ken’s hospital bills and subsequent memorial. We appreciate your generosity and prayers from the bottom of our heart.
