My name is Jocelyn Justo. I’ve been playing tuba since I was 11 and involved in marching arts since freshman year. I am now 18 and have been blessed with an opportunity to march DCI with the Gold Drum and Bugle Corps. DCI is an advanced marching band program/activity that trains daily for long hours and travels around the country in competitive performances. Each performer pays to do drum corps because of their love for the art and true hard work. Unfortunately, I was thrown in the deep end with all this after no plans of ever marching DCI because I thought the cards would never play in my favor for this opportunity. I was able to join late to fill an unexpected spot opening, this left the financials up in the air for me. Tour fees cover the cost of my food, show design, uniform, plane ticket, training, competition and everything else provided tour for over almost 2 months of practice and performance. From dollar to penny, Everything helps and is greatly appreciated.
