Hi, My name is Kellee Asselstine. I am a resident of New Orleans, LA and my family (mother, elderly grandparents, cousins and daughter) and I evacuated New Orleans ahead of Hurricane Ida. As Ida roared ashore at 150 mph (7 mph short of a Category 5 storm), New Orleans lost power and the waters rose. As of right now, those of us that have evacuated are being told that we cannot go back home until further notice. This is a huge strain on finances, as many of us were not counting on being away from home for more than a few days at most. We are being told that it could be up to 3 weeks before power is restored, as all 8 electrical transmission towers were knocked down by Ida.
My family and I are asking if you can help us cover our hotel cost and incidentals (gas, food, clothing, medication). We are looking at at least another 3 weeks minimum of being away from home. Any amount is greatly appreciated.
